Come out and experience the Tonkawa Tribal Powwow at the Fort Oakland Reserve, an annual tribal celebration featuring Native American dancing, contests, crafts, artwork and food. Dance styles will include straight, fancy, traditional, cloth and buckskin categories.
New Thursday Night Program! Traditional Tonkawa Women’s Contest and Creation Story of the Tonkawa People!
Stick around for a Traditional Tonkawa Scalp Dance during the Saturday night program and a Nez Perce memorial contest Sunday evening. The Nez Perce will be joining the Tonkawa this year in to conduct a memorial ceremony for their people who were left behind.

Stick around for a traditional Tonkawa scalp dance during the festival and a Nez Perce memorial ceremony Saturday morning. The Tonkawa Pow Wow also includes a different sporting tournament each day (Basketball, Warrior’s Run, Horseshoes and Disc Golf) and a scout dance.
