Call for Native American Male Actor

Call for Native American Male Actor

Blue Ridge Community Theater in Blue Ridge, Georgia

Blue Ridge Community Theater is putting out a call for a Native American male actor. Mike Dunham is a volunteer at the theater as a director and will be directing One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest this coming spring. He would like to cast a Native American male for the role of Chief which he hopes to make as authentic as possible. Not only will this allow him to adhere to the requirements of the script, but will have him achieve a personal goal in having diversity and ethnicity as a part of the production.

If you are familiar with the 1975 movie starring Jack Nicholson, Mike would like you to please refrain from making any reference to the small part the character Chief played in the story. The script/stage version is such that the character Chief will have a good deal of dialogue as he opens the show with a lengthy monologue describing how he came to be placed in an institution along with others. This opening scene sets the tone for the rest of the story and must be done right, to properly engage the audience. There are several other similar monologues throughout the story. This role is pivotal to this powerful drama and will require someone who is comfortable on stage. Previous acting experience would be a plus.

Audition dates are Monday, February 26 and Tuesday, February 27 at 6 pm at Blue Ridge Community Theater. The show runs for 3 weekends with the opening production Thursday, May 16. Feel free to call or text Mike at 762-210-9525 or via email at miked@brct.one.
