Native Expressions, New Exhibit at Museum of the American Indian in Novato, CA

The Museum of the American Indian in Novato, California, will present the exhibit, Native Expressions featuring the art of Becky Olvera Schultz. On display will be the artist’s Native American art masks, Southwest style masks, photography, serigraphs, rawhide shields and other mixed media works.
This will be Becky’s 8th museum exhibition and her 2nd at this museum. The first one was 10 years ago entitled, Masks of the Americas. It was a display of her contemporary masks in combination with the traditional masks from the museum’s archives.
The artist’s work is inspired by the peoples indigenous to the Americas and her masks have been described as intense, awesome, powerful, cutting edge, beautiful, spiritual, dramatic and even intimidating. They have been featured in the national magazines Cowboys & Indians, Wild West and Native Peoples.
The opening reception is Saturday, March 2 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Free admission to members, $5.00 for non-members. Refreshments will be served. Come by and meet the artist.
The museum is in Marin County, California at Miwok Park in Novato. The museum is a non-profit organization. Free admission to members. Suggested Donation Admission to ongoing exhibit for non-members: Adults: $5, Children/Seniors: $3, Families,$10
